Upcoming January 2024 events
— January 3 (Wed): General Meeting – Kino Ocotillo/Mesquite room 10am. We will be presenting a panel discussion relating to efficiently and effectively traveling for genealogy research purposes. We will address visiting towns or cities that ancestors lived in or frequented, looking up grave sites and cemeteries, going to the Family Genealogy Center in Salt Lake City, visiting counties or countries to locate information about relatives, etc.
We look forward to seeing a full crowd of members and guests. And we warmly welcome ALL QC residents with an emerging interest in Genealogy.
— January 10 (Wed): QCGC BOD meeting – Kino Conference room 10am. All QCGC members are welcome to attend. Bring comments, questions, and suggestions about the Club.
— January 25 (Thur): Education Committee – Kino Mesquite room 1pm. Attend our interactive “Hands-on Genealogy Helping Session” workshop. These helping sessions are opportunities for the Educational Committee and QCGC member attendees to bring their own laptops, binders, records, questions, etc. with the intent to share and help each other further genealogical knowledge, break down brick walls and improve research skills.
*Please note* – bringing “technology” is not required, just suggested. Many genealogy records and methods are not online; the opportunities for members to share experiences and tips face-to-face is priceless. Members and their guests are encouraged to join us, network with other genealogy-minded people and hopefully leave the session with additional tools to further their genealogical endeavors.

— February 7 (Wed): General Meeting – Kino Ocotillo/Mesquite room 10am. Mr. John Bird is going to be our speaker for the Feb 7 General Mtg. His talk will be on “How I Was Able To Do In-depth Research To Create My Family Tree: Samson/Sampson: Mayflower to Town of Fond du Lac, WI and Town of Lomira Dodge County, WI”. We warmly welcome ALL QC residents with an emerging interest in Genealogy and seeking the most direct ways to discover stimulating facts about their *own* family’s ancestry.
— February 14 (Wed): QCGC BOD meeting – Kino Conference room 10am. All QCGC members are welcome to attend. Bring comments, questions, and suggestions about the Club.
— February 22 (Thur): Education Committee – Kino Mesquite room 1pm. The Club will present a special workshop entitled “Genealogy 101: Deciding to Do It and How to Get Going” facilitated by Byron L. Bissell, President of the Quail Creek Genealogy Club. It is designed for those who have considered finding out about their ancestral history, but have hesitated due to “not knowing how to get started or even wondering… should I?” Membership in the Quail Creek Genealogy Club is not required to attend this special workshop it is open to everyone who resides in the Quail Creek community. Hope to see many of you there!

— March 6 (Wed): General Meeting – Kino Ocotillo/Mesquite room 10am. Becky McCreary, who publishes a weekly article in the Sunday Green Valley News, will present excerpts from her classes on “Storytellers: Writing Family Stories”. Becky is a member of the Southern Arizona Genealogical Society. Her goal will be to help each of us write interesting stories for future generations and also to put together stories of interest from our genealogy research. Please feel free to bring friends and family who may be new or experienced in genealogy to this
informative meeting. It should be educational and fun! We look forward to seeing you there.
