QC Genealogy Club’s history & milestones

The QC Genealogy Club logo. From the 7 children seen in this 1857 photo, a six-generation lineage flowed, with more than 28,000 direct relatives. Thousands of them alive today — and joyfully linked up . . . by a team of amateur genealogists who learned and expertly applied the same modern researching methods, tools and options that our club teaches and abundantly provides to our members.

Our club began in Qctober of 2021 after the club’s founder, Dick Sussman became fascinated with the subject — stimulated by an amazing letter from a 70 year-old cousin back East in which she described how she was able to trace the Sussman family’s huge lineage back over a period of five centuries. She now has frequent screen-to-screen Zoom conversations with hundreds of their living relatives located in more than 20 countries worldwide.

Dick immediately began asking about QC’s level of interest in genealogy with more than a hundred residents via conversations by phone; email; and the HOA message forum. His 8-days of club-formation Announcements in the What’s Happening e-bulletin started on Oct 6th and resulted in a literal deluge (more than 50) of affirmative responses indicating enormous beginner interest, as well as abundant genealogical *expertise* among many of our year-round and seasonal homeowners. All of them highly enthused about the possibility of a club devoted to serving that deep interest.

(Dick is also the 2006 founder of the very successful QC Billiards Club.)
